I am happy to present this compilation of instrumental synthesizer tracks that I have recorded during the period 2001 - 2009. Some of these tracks have been released before on sites like SoundClick, LastFM and MySpace, but never before have they been compiled into a structured set that actually, with some imagination, could be called an album. The site Bandcamp has now provided me with a great opportunity to make this happen.
In 2001 I have bought myself a Nord Modular synthesizer and I still consider it the best piece of electrical equipment that I have ever acquired. Later on it was followed by a Nord Modular G2X. It saddens me that these two marvelous synthesizers have been put out of production. These two synthesizers have placed a big mark on the music presented on this compilation. In fact, they are all over the place. I would not consider these tracks to be typical modular synthesizer music, as the actual synth sounds don't strain away that far from regular synth sounds. But still I like the fact that these sounds were handcrafted from scratch, and that I was able to tweak them in ways no regular synthesizer provides. As the sounds, in my opinion, make up such a big part of the music this fact all adds up to the personal nature of the tracks.
For all purists out there, just to be clear on this, it is not all Nord Modular that you hear though. Drums and percussion is made up of a combination of Nord Modular, Elektron Machinedrum and samples from drum computer classics like the Roland TR-909 or TR-606. Sampled strings (provided by Propellerheads Reason) can be heard on J.Carpenter, and external effects have been applied on most tracks.
I hope you will like this compilation. If you like you can download each track individually for free or download the complete album for any price you see fit (and that includes downloading it for free).
